Filmonderzoek in Poolse bioscopen
DigiTraining Plus - New Technologies for the European Cinemas of the Future - vond plaats in Krakau en Warschau, Polen, van 28 augustus tot 1 september 2013. Het Italiaanse onderzoeksinstituut Mediasalles organiseerde de cursus voor de 10de keer en werd mede mogelijk gemaakt door het MEDIA programma van de Europese Unie en het Italiaanse ministerie van Cultuur. De cursus focust op nieuwe bioscooptechnologieën en biedt cursisten praktische handvatten en nieuwe inzichten voor de digitalisering van Europese bioscopen. Filmonderzoek reisde af naar Polen.
European Audiovisual Observatory zoekt European Film Industry Analyst
Under the authority of the Head of Department for Information on Markets and Financing of the European Audiovisual Observatory, the incumbent will provide scientific assistance and support to projects related to the observation and analysis of the film industry, in compliance with guidelines and priorities, and with a concern for quality, efficiency and accuracy.
EU box office inches to record high in 2011: as European comedies provide welcome relief and 3D matures
2011 was a year of stabilisation at the European box office as the marked upward trend of GBO of the past two years slowed down significantly, resulting nevertheless in an overall year-on-year increase. Based on provisional data the European Audiovisual Observatory estimates that EU gross box office returns increased marginally by 0.7% from EUR 6.37 billion to EUR 6.4 billion, still the highest level on record. Cinema attendance remained stable with an estimated 962 million tickets sold.

Recordopbrengst Europese bioscopen
BRUSSEL - Vooral dankzij hogere entreeprijzen is de opbrengst van het bioscoopbezoek in de Europese Unie vorig jaar naar recordhoogte gestegen, want het aantal bezoekers daalde licht. Filmbezoekers telden in totaal bijna 6,45 miljard euro neer voor hun tickets, blijkt uit voorlopige cijfers die de Europese instelling European Audiovisual Observatory maandag bekend heeft gemaakt. Het aantal verkochte kaartjes daalde met 1,6 procent naar 967 miljoen. In Nederland was er wel een stijging van 27,3 naar 28,2 miljoen bezoekers, die in totaal 219,3 miljoen euro betaalden (201,1 miljoen in 2009).
2010 even better than 2009, a record year for cinema-going in Europe’s cinemas
The number of spectators in all of Europe’s cinemas continues to grow, from Portugal to Russia: in 2009 there were 1,179.3 million, rising to 1,184.6 million, with a 0.4% increase in 2010. These are the figures announced by MEDIA Salles in the traditional appointment at the Berlinale. If Europe as a whole is characterized by a positive trend, the analysis of individual markets, presented by Elisabetta Brunella, Secretary General of MEDIA Salles, reveals contradictory results. The 18 countries of Western Europe totalled 897.2 million spectators with a 2.6% decrease compared to 2009, when 921.2 million tickets were sold. Instead, Central-Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean Rim, comprising 15 countries, recorded considerable growth: 11.4. From 258.1 million, tickets sold rose to 287.4 million.

Cinema Expo eyes alternative content
De jaarlijkse vakbeurs voor de bioscoopbranche Cinema Expo vond dit jaar plaats van 21 t/m 24 juni, in Amsterdam. Cinema Expo is dit jaar de officiële conventie van UNIC. CEI en UNIC bundelen hun krachten om de Europese bioscoopindustrie belangrijke informatie te kunnen verschaffen op het gebied van nieuwe technologieën, belangrijke trends en natuurlijk nieuwe films. Op het programma stonden seminars over o.a. de digitale rollout in Europa; de Europese commissie en steun voor de Europese bioscoopindustrie; alternatieve content en 3D, waarover onderstaand bericht ‘Cinema Expo eyes alternative content’ gaat, afkomstig van Variety.com.
